HIMSS CXO Dialogue - Innovation and Cybersecurity - was held at Marina Mandarin, Singapore on the 27th September 2018.

This invitation only event brought together decision makers from the private, social entrepreneur and government sector to discuss on health IT issues.

Various different points of views and concerns were discussed in this round table event.

Caring for Dependent Older Persons details the knowledge that a caregiver should have when caring for an older person who is dependent on his/her care.

The main part of this book is a step-by-step guide on all the necessary skills needed when helping an older person with his/her Activities of Daily Living, monitoring of the person's health and the overall care of the older person. This book provides holistic knowledge by explaining how age and disease affect an older person.

It also covers the potential stress that a caregiver may endure while taking care of an older person. It is a valuable reference guide for a caregiver during the journey of caregiving. This book is the first of its kind to provide caregivers with comprehensive information on taking care of a dependent older person, especially in the Singapore context. The step-by-step explanation can be a reference guide for caregivers before or after their caregiver training.

The financial help section gathers information on all the schemes available in Singapore that can help with the care of a dependent older person. A comprehensive list of financial help available in Singapore is also detailed in this section.

Technology evolves, rapidly and relentlessly. As technologies evolved, many times, people like myself with my 2 feet firmly planted onto the ground can find ourselves very helpless. Here is one example:

TUV Sud Digital Service Center of Excellence - Smart Elderly Care @ Home Centre was opened on the 27th of October 2017. Lotus Eldercare was honoured and proud to be involved in consulting and setting up the case scenarios as a home eldercare expert.

More research into topics such as value of such systems, the security and the workflow management will be done in subsequent months.

Dr Tan Jit Seng was honored to be invited as one of the speakers on Robotics in Healthcare ub SIRE 2017, held in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore over 2nd and 3rd of November 2017.

On my day to day interactions with seniors, one of the difficulties would be hearing impairment. Often then not, I literally have to "gently" raise my voice for any effective communication. Hearing aids are not very popular with the elderly unfortunately. Some are ill fitting, with much feedback noises etc. Many elderly never bothered to go for hearing test or get hearing aids, life just goes on in a more tinnitus prone world. An article in New York Times also flagged out this common and yet unsolved issue: https://newoldage.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/04/05/why-wont-they-get-hearing-aids/?_r=0

Dr Tan Jit Seng, Chief Technology Officer of Lotus Technologies, is proud to be able to share some insights on Robotics in home care setting.
