Lotus Eldercare team visited this year's H.C.R. 2016 expo in Tokyo Big Sight, Japan this October 2016.

There are many eye popping technologies, products and home furnishings on exhibition. I have no idea where to start or where to end but it was indeed an eye opener with all the innovations on show.

In summary, the expo was divided up into 6 sections, showcasing innovations from household items like spoons and forks to iron man suits either for caregivers to lift heavy loads or for the paraplegic to ambulate. The types and designs of motorised wheelchairs and walkers are mind boggling, as well the the hospitals beds designs and the toileting/bathing equipment.

One of the most interesting new innovation is from Panasonic XPN-S10601 hospital bed, retailing at around US$8500 starting next year only in Japan market. It is both a hospital bed and a wheelchair, and completely obliterate the need to transfer patient from bed to chair! The design is sleek and the usage is both practical and simple.

But not all innovations are from Japan, one of these innovations which I thought was simply brilliant in design and function!- is an attachment piece for any normal wheelchair to convert it to be bench press propelling mechanism!  Here is their website: http://www.nu-drive.com/

I am still in the midst of digesting some of the innovations and designs from the brochures I brought back. Those interested can always attend next year's event!
